Overview

Internship opportunity within the Environment and Forests Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, contributing to environmental policy and sustainable development objectives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general support to the preparation of Environmental Performance Reviews (EPRs) for the Republic of Moldova, Central Asia, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia.
  • Support the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Programme, including preparation for the Joint Working Group on Environmental statistics and indicators, implementation of an EU-funded project, launching a national state of the environment report, and capacity-development activities.
  • Provide general assistance, including drafting and editing documents, background research, and correspondence.
Required Experience

No professional work experience is required for participation in the Internship Programme.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Studies in environmental policy, environmental law, environmental sciences, international relations or equivalent are required.

Languages Required
Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of French or Russian is an asset.
Contract Duration
1 June to 31 August 2026.

Remuneration
The United Nations does not financially remunerate interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibilities of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
