Overview

The WASH Officer will provide technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the WASH programming cycle, supporting the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH programme outputs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft updates for WASH in the situation analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation.
  • Contribute to the development of WASH-related outcome and output results.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and technical materials.
  • Collect/analyze/share information on implementation issues.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises.
  • Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
  • Provide technical and operational support to counterparts and partners.
  • Conduct regular field supervision of WASH construction and rehabilitation works.
  • Monitor quality of materials and workmanship.
  • Verify progress and completion of works.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, social, and safety standards.
  • Draft requisitions for supplies, services, and agreements for emergency preparedness.
  • Study UNICEF’s procedures for emergency response.
  • Take up support roles in an emergency response.
  • Build and sustain working partnerships with national stakeholders.
  • Draft communication and information materials for WASH programme advocacy.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings on UNDAF planning.
  • Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of WASH action research and innovation.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning/knowledge products.
  • Assist in creating and delivering learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH staff.
  • Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Water & Environmental Sanitation, water, sanitation, and hygiene, construction management, Experience in programme planning, implementation, and monitoring of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene interventions.

Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Architecture, Engineering-Civil, Engineering-Environmental, Engineering-Geological, Engineering, public health engineering, water resources engineering, sanitary engineering, architecture or a related technical field and any other related fields.
