Overview

The Jordan INGO Forum Director is responsible for facilitating, leading, and quality managing the work of the INGO Forum, ensuring its relevance to member needs and appropriateness to the context. The role involves high-level engagement to elevate operational concerns in strategic decision-making and representing the Forum in regional and global platforms.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership to the Forum by encouraging delegation, accountability and teamwork.
  • Ensures transparent coordination mechanisms and regular information sharing between INGOs and other stakeholders.
  • Enables INGOs to coordinate at strategic and operational level in Jordan by facilitating high quality, regular meetings.
  • High level representation of INGO interests in external meetings and planning efforts nationally and globally.
  • Strategically guides and encourages common advocacy and policy engagement.
  • Proactive agenda setting; facilitating a space for INGO-INGO collaboration and with other stakeholders.
  • Oversees the development, review and implementation of JIF Advocacy Strategy.
  • Responsible for budgeting, budget management and accountability.
  • Acts as focal point for information/experience sharing with and among NGOs.
  • Manages the Secretariat staff and consultants.
  • Ensures the development of and compliance with procedures for the Forum.
  • Fundraises for the JIF to ensure sufficient funds to maintain operations.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a protracted crisis or post-conflict setting with an INGO in senior management role (e.g. Country Director or similar levels).
  • Additional experience working in a coordination role in not only a humanitarian but a development setting is preferred.
  • Proven high profile management, coordination and strong advocacy experience in conflict-affected countries in humanitarian context.
  • Familiarity with alternative funding modalities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of humanitarian architecture, the UN system, and development coordination.
  • Familiarity with HDP Nexus contexts, Durable Solutions, and Localization.
  • Understanding of internal NRC operational and administrative system is an asset.
Qualifications

• Undergraduate/postgraduate qualifications in international relations, political science, development or other relevant field.

Languages Required
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with strong writing and editing skills.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of Arabic is an added value.
