Overview

The Programme Associate will actively support the Country Office on population and development and data portfolio, focusing on implementation of work plans with national partners to generate data and evidence for development planning. The role contributes to strengthening population data systems and evidence-based policy advice.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supports PD technical and programme team with operational (finance and admin) and programme matters.
  • Facilitates contacts and promotes information sharing between IPs and programme staff.
  • Contributes to the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of PD projects and the country programme work.
  • Reviews and processes advance requests by IPs and ensures expenditures align with UNFPA policies.
  • Reviews Implementing Partners’ financial supporting documents and proceeds with liquidation.
  • Follows up on payment processes with the Finance Unit.
  • Tracks project expenditures and monitors them using analytic tools.
  • Ensures proper management of programme and office filing and archiving systems.
  • Identifies sources and gathers data for documents, guidelines, and papers.
  • Assembles briefing materials and prepares presentations.
  • Organizes, compiles, and processes information for databases and documents.
  • Supports CO programme management through project creation in Quantum, budget revisions, and financial closure.
  • Prepares documentation for recruitment of consultants and temporary staff.
  • Drafts amendments to project agreements, workplans, and contractual aspects.
  • Handles administrative work, including requisitions, minor procurement, and logistic support for events.
  • Conducts spot-checks to ensure IP activities align with UNFPA procedures.
  • Assists in collecting and consolidating data for programme reports and donor submissions.
  • Provides day-to-day administrative and logistical support to programme teams.
  • Assists in preparing training materials and participates in capacity-building sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

Minimum three years of relevant experience in population and data programme management, economics, climate change, administration, finance or office management; Proficiency in current office software applications, web-based management and ERP financial systems; Detailed knowledge and understanding of clerical, administrative, secretarial best practices and procedures within a multicultural corporate environment; Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) Have affinity with or interest in gender equality and women’s rights work, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System; experience in statistical analysis is an asset, and previous UN working experience is added value; Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; and sound self-security awareness is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Demography, statistics, business, programme management, social sciences, and computer science or any relevant field.
