Overview
Provide technical expertise to the Decommissioning and Remediation Unit, focusing on the development of safety standards and services for decommissioning and remediation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input on the development of a position paper on in-situ disposal / entombment.
- Provide technical expertise related to national TC projects on decommissioning – organize workshops, expert missions, scientific visits and fellowships in accordance with projects' workplans.
- Contribute to development of services on safety of the nuclear "back-end" to assist embarking countries.
- Contribute to development of practical guidance on decommissioning of novel types of facilities (SMRs, fusion).
- Contribute to the revision of the Safety Guide WS-G-5.2 "Safety Assessment for the Decommissioning of Facilities Using Radioactive Material".
- Provide technical expertise related to activities on safety of decommissioning as necessary – Safety Standards, peer reviews, eLearning materials, international conferences.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with planning, implementation or regulation of decommissioning of facilities and/or management of waste and materials from decommissioning.
- Knowledge of international guidance on decommissioning and waste management.
- Experience with technical review and critical evaluation of safety related documents.
- Good IT skills (Excel, etc.).
Qualifications
University degree in nuclear engineering, physics, mechanical engineering or thermal engineering.
