Overview
The Information Management Specialist will provide technical leadership for UNICEF’s IM Hub, focusing on the identification and mapping of vulnerable children affected by emergencies. The role supports the collection, centralization, and mapping of data for situational monitoring, preparedness, targeting, and coordination of humanitarian responses.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead routine and administrative data collection, centralization, GIS Mapping, and analysis for situation monitoring of vulnerable children affected by emergencies.
- Develop and maintain a Real Time Humanitarian Situation Monitoring System.
- Collaborate with humanitarian cluster information management IMOs and provide technical input and coordination support.
- Support the strengthening of Sector Line Ministries’ management information systems.
- Support Field Offices and State counterparts in strengthening information management systems.
- Support the production and dissemination of sector 4W/6W information products.
- Contribute to capacity strengthening of UNICEF staff and partners on GIS tools.
- Support the adoption and use of scalable technologies, including GeoAI.
- Support the application and strengthening of data governance practices.
- Promote and support the use of advanced analytics, automation, and data tools.
- Support capacity strengthening of UNICEF staff, government counterparts, and partners in GIS, data literacy, and IM tools.
- Contribute to the identification and documentation of emerging good practices and lessons learned.
Required Experience
At least five years of professional work experience in Information and GIS Management including research and data analysis and management. Demonstrated technical skills and competencies in GIS Mapping and IM and analysis. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in Geospatial Information Systems, data science, statistics, Social Sciences, or in one of the related fields.
