Overview
Provide day-to-day technical guidance and supervision for the implementation of Flood resilient Shelter construction and borehole drilling and rehabilitation activities. Responsible for implementation of project activities including infrastructure design, schematic drawings, bill of quantities, and supervision of works.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and supervision to implement Flood resilient Shelter construction and borehole drilling and rehabilitation activities.
- Provide inputs and support for infrastructure’s design and develop schematic drawings and bill of quantities.
- Inspect and supervise project participants’ works and NRC’s direct implementation.
- Assist in providing technical support in the development of NRC’s WASH and Shelter programming.
- Work closely with other Project Officers and assistants to ensure timely delivery of quality WASH and Shelter programme.
- Assist in overall planning and design of (future) projects.
- Coordinate WASH activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans.
- Assist in all aspects of WASH programs planning implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Develop technical specifications and bills of quantities (BOQ) for works.
- Assess WASH training needs of community base workers and assist in developing training materials and plans.
- Conduct water quality testing and sanitary inspection at water points.
- Provide technical supports to WASH Assistants and local counterparts on WASH information and communication strategies.
- Assist in the establishment, and training of water point committees as well as monitoring their performance.
- Assist in the compilation of weekly and monthly WASH reports, program documents, project proposals, and budgets.
- Ensure timely procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment according to procedures.
- Break down annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans.
- Prepare weekly progress reports and other documents required for water and sanitation infrastructures.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the WASH Project Coordinator.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience from working with WASH projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Experience from working with social work and/or with distribution of humanitarian assistance is an advantage.
- Previous 2 years work experience in community-based Water and Sanitation programs in similar position.
- Work experience with an INGO is desirable.
- Must have knowledge of emergency Water supply, Hygiene, Sanitation requirements and protocols.
- Familiarity with international minimum standards of Water and Sanitation delivery (i.e., SPHERE) is an advantage.
- Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Epanet, and Google Earth is strongly desirable.
- Ability to initiate, develop, plan, and implement an integrated programme.
- Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities.
- Political and cultural awareness and experience of working were hardship areas.
- Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment and manage conflicting priorities.
- Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of disadvantaged populations (minority groups etc.).
- Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues.
Qualifications
• B.Sc./ HND in Civil or Water Engineering, Geology, Hydrology or any other relevant field
