Overview

Internship opportunity to support the implementation of non-staff capacities for programmes within the UNOCT Office in Madrid, focusing on programme management and policy matters related to counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations.
  • Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
  • Support organization of meetings and conferences, side events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners.
  • Assist in data collection and conduct research and provide analysis on relevant topics.
  • Assist in maintaining databases.
  • Support the review of key publications.
  • Assist in preparing training and learning events and other capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Be experienced with standard software applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Fluency in French would be a strong asset.

Remuneration
This internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
