Overview
The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Officer will supervise and build the capacity of GBV Caseworkers and Community Mobilizers to ensure quality, survivor-centered GBV case management and psychosocial support activities for women and adolescent girls.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily guidance and monitoring of caseworkers and PSS facilitators.
- Conduct daily support and supervision visits to case management and group MHPSS activities.
- Ensure WPE activities, meetings, referrals and documentation happen safely, timely and with quality.
- Receive, triage, and follow up on referrals for WPE services.
- Ensure women and adolescent girls with specialized needs are referred safely and confidentially.
- Track all referrals to confirm receipt, follow-up, and feedback, and resolve bottlenecks.
- Conduct and regularly update a comprehensive mapping of available GBV and multi-sectoral services.
- Maintain an up-to-date service directory and referral pathway document.
- Assist in regular performance monitoring of partners.
- Directly supervise GBV Caseworkers and Community Mobilizers.
- Provide structured individual and group supervision sessions.
- Lead ongoing capacity building for GBV Caseworkers and Community Mobilizers.
- Maintain open and professional relations with team members.
- Lead and coordinate all planning and reporting of WPE activities.
- Prepare and submit weekly activity work plans, reports and other required documents.
- File and archive all important documents and correspondence related to WPE activities.
- Support the implementation of and adherence with the WPE work plan and MEAL plans.
- Actively coordinate with staff from other IRC sectors.
- Actively develop, coordinate, maintain and strengthen effective working relationships with partners.
- Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant local actors.
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings at the community level.
- Closely collaborate with organizations and partners working in implementation area.
- Establish and maintain functional referral coordination mechanisms with key service providers and stakeholders.
- Attend trainings organized by the IRC.
- Stay informed about the situation of women and adolescent girls.
- Consistently and proactively monitor the safety and security of field teams.
- Promote and adhere to the principles, objectives and code of conduct of the IRC.
- Act both professionally and personally in a manner that brings credit to the IRC.
- If necessary, provide translation and interpretation at meetings, training sessions and/or documents.
- Assist identifying new implementing partners and arrange meetings with partners.
- Conduct any other task requested by his/her supervisor.
Required Experience
At least 2-3 years’ experience in implementing GBV programs, preferably in the field of psychosocial interventions, counseling and GBV risk reduction strategies for women and girls, including GBV survivors. Previous experience supervising and coordinating a team preferred. Previous experience in capacity building and mentoring preferred. Previous experience in emergency response preferred. Demonstrated ability to liaise with partner organizations.
Qualifications
Degree desired in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Rights, Social Science, Humanities or other related field.
