Overview
The intern will provide technical and operational support to the Publications, Conference, and Knowledge Management Division within the Information and Communications Technology Services Section.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the installation, configuration, and testing of new wireless access points and LAN equipment.
- Assist in upgrading existing network infrastructure components.
- Help conduct site surveys and signal strength analysis.
- Assist with documenting configurations, device placements, and test results.
- Assist the team in diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues.
- Support the review and maintenance of firewall rules and configurations.
- Help document observed security risks, incidents, and responses.
- Assist in monitoring network performance and contribute to preparing performance reports.
- Support routine maintenance tasks, including firmware and software updates.
- Help maintain accurate network topology diagrams and device inventories.
- Assist in reviewing security policies and compliance status.
- Support evaluation of security considerations for field devices, sensors, and IoT devices.
- Provide general ICT support for other projects or technical activities.
- Assist with preparation of technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
- Participate in team meetings, project planning sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Support asset management, network equipment inventory updates, and related administrative tasks.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Program are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Program or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. program.
