Overview
The Health Team Intern will assist clients with their healthcare needs, including transportation, care coordination, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend Volunteer/Intern Orientation
- Provide transportation for clients and their families to medical, dental, and vision appointments.
- Implement a transit orientation to familiarize clients with public transportation.
- Assist Health Team with administrative tasks (phone calls, filing, collecting signed paperwork, making medical appointments, etc.)
- Assist clients on an as-needed basis (prescription assistance, medical bill assistance, etc.)
- Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.
Required Experience
- Ownership of a car and a valid driver’s license and car insurance
- Willingness to transport clients in your personal vehicle
- Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to client needs
- Familiarity with the Charlottesville public transportation system or a willingness to familiarize oneself with the Charlottesville public transportation system
