Overview
The internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related areas. The role will provide creative and technical support for the implementation of IOM's communication strategy in West and Central Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the creation of engaging multimedia content, including photography, video, editing, storyboarding, short-form adaptation, and digital platform content.
- Contribute to the creation, editing, and optimization of attractive communication content for various channels, including web articles, social media posts, captions, newsletters, campaign notes, human interest stories, and briefing elements.
- Support the management, organization, and valorization of communication content (photos, videos, visuals, testimonials, campaign materials, media products, visibility materials) for reuse in regional campaigns and publications.
- Contribute to the management of communication and marketing tools, including editorial calendars, campaign files, tracking sheets, shared spaces, media monitoring files, and content databases.
- Support the collection, selection, and consolidation of content from country offices and regional initiatives, ensuring editorial coherence, visual quality, and alignment with IOM's brand and standards.
- Support the daily animation of regional digital platforms, including writing, adapting, scheduling, and proofreading content to enhance IOM's visibility, engagement, and message consistency.
- Support collaboration with country offices, technical teams, headquarters, and partners to identify content opportunities, propose creative ideas, and contribute to more coherent, visible, and target-audience-oriented regional campaigns.
Required Experience
- Interns must have less than two years of relevant working experience.
- Experience, demonstrated interest, or academic/professional work in media, communication, journalism, digital content, advocacy, international development, humanitarian action, or migration.
- Good familiarity with major social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and their formats, audiences, and editorial uses.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content for social media, web, newsletters, campaigns, or public information materials.
- Experience or practice in content planning, editorial calendars, newsletters, storytelling, communication campaign support, or basic design tools would be an advantage.
- Basic skills in photography, videography, audio editing, video editing, animation, or graphic design would be an asset.
- Experience or interest in knowledge management, documentation, archiving, digital content organization, or content bank management would be an advantage.
- Strong interest in migration, humanitarian action, development, and public information issues in West and Central Africa.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months in communication, journalism, digital marketing, digital media, audiovisual production, multimedia, public relations, information sciences, social sciences, or a related field, in a recognized university institution.
- A complementary training, portfolio, or academic/professional experience in content creation, social media management, audiovisual production, graphic design, storytelling, or digital communication would be an asset.
