Overview

The role involves working on the development, monitoring, and implementation of financial sector policies in securities markets and fintech issues. The expert will participate in assessments, technical assistance, and surveillance missions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Development and dissemination of policy positions on prudential supervision and regulation of banks and non-banks.
  • Managing the Fund's participation in the development of policies related to regulatory standards and codes.
  • Working with standard setting bodies on methodologies.
  • Managing MCM's delivery of supervisory standard assessments.
  • Producing assessments, including in Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) missions.
  • Provision of policy and technical advice for Article IV surveillance on regulatory and supervisory matters, including participation in Article IV missions.
  • Provision of technical assistance (TA) and capacity building in the regulatory and supervisory areas.
  • Being central point of contact for the Department's engagement with relevant standard setting bodies.
  • Liaison with relevant FSB committees and groups on regulatory and supervisory policy.
Required Experience

At least four years of relevant work experience in the relevant areas. Broad knowledge of and experience in financial sector issues with specialization in regulation and supervision of capital/securities markets, preferably with significant experience and expertise in prudential oversight issues related to asset management. Have in-depth understanding of international regulatory and supervisory initiatives and experience of their implementation at the national level on both securities and fintech. Extensive experience working within a department/division of supervision in a leading supervisory agency preferred. Have a strong understanding of issues in the supervision of financial groups and transactions, including on a cross-border basis. Have interest and expertise in the adaptation and application of regulatory frameworks and supervisory approaches to address the challenges posed by fintech. Hands-on experience in supervision and regulation challenges of Fintech, and implications of technology for the financial sector, will be definite advantages. Experience in developing tailored solutions for implementation of international standards/ best practices in a variety of contexts and delivering technical assistance in low capacity environments is an advantage. Knowledge and experience of major outputs of the IMF in a national context, such as the FSAP, Article IV surveillance, and technical assistance, would be an advantage.

Qualifications

An advanced academic degree in economics, finance, business administration, law or a related field.
