Overview

The ETC Coordinator will support the implementation of initiatives to strengthen telecommunications resilience across Pacific Island countries, serving as a member of the WFP-led Pacific Emergency Telecommunications Cluster team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support strategic planning and implementation of regional ETC preparedness, response and recovery initiatives.
  • Manage assigned projects and portfolios, ensuring effective planning, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of outputs.
  • Provide senior technical support and advice on emergency telecommunications solutions.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of ICT capacity assessments and technical missions.
  • Support the design and delivery of capacity development initiatives, including trainings, workshops, and simulation exercises.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization and programme development efforts.
  • Support emergency response operations and deployments.
  • Support the systematic capture, consolidation and analysis of programme and project data.
  • Act as focal point for Early Warning Systems (EWS), including the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative.
  • Contribute to effective coordination and partnership engagement with governments, regional organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
  • Provide substantive support in the coordination and representation of ETC activities.
Required Experience

5- 10 years postgraduate professional experience in the relevant field of work, with a background in IT Emergency Preparedness and Response, Emergency Telecommunications and humanitarian and development work. Experience working with or liaising with governments, UN or regional institutions is desirable. Experience in deploying, managing and configuring satellite and radio communications assets. Experience working in the Pacific or SIDS is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Disaster Management, or other related technical fields, or First university degree with additional years of relevant professional experience (Degrees in International Relations, Disaster Risk Management, or related disciplines, combined with relevant field experience in emergency preparedness and response, will also be considered).
