Overview

The Project Coordinator will serve as the overall lead for the UN Macro Grant in Sri Lanka, ensuring strategic oversight, donor accountability, and programmatic integration across various sectors. This role also incorporates technical leadership for cash-based transfers and anticipatory action.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead overall implementation of the Macro Grant, ensuring coherence across all sectors.
  • Prepare timely, accurate, and results-based reports to the US Government donor.
  • Ensure effective integration of cash transfers, anticipatory action triggers, NFI pre-positioning, and disaster preparedness coordination.
  • Oversee design and implementation of conditional Associate cash transfers (FFA); manage anticipatory action pre-financing, thresholds, and triggers; supervise delivery mechanisms (SCOPE, bank transfers).
  • Act as focal point for coordination with government agencies, UN partners, INGOs/NGOs, and technical working groups.
  • Oversee monitoring systems and indicator tracking, ensuring adherence to RBM standards.
  • Identify bottlenecks, propose contingency measures, and ensure fiduciary safeguards.
  • Support government and partner institutions in disaster preparedness and anticipatory action.
  • Provide guidance to technical leads and support staff.
  • Represent WFP in donor and partner coordination forums related to the Macro Grant.
  • Produce regular progress reports and briefings to the Deputy Country Director.
  • Define and implement sustainability and exit strategies, including asset transfer and embedding AA protocols.
Required Experience

Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project management and coordination, with at least 3 years in cash-based transfers or anticipatory action programming.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in International Development, Political Science, Economics, or related field; or First University degree with additional years of relevant experience.
