Overview

Responsible for MSF’s operational response in the Mission, defining the mission operational strategy, coordinating program execution, and representing MSF’s interests.


Key Responsibilities
  • Initiating and leading the mission-wide operational strategy, including country policy, annual plan, budget and policy frameworks.
  • Leading the management team translating strategic objectives into operational activities.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the political, humanitarian and medical situation in the country and region.
  • Representing MSF towards external actors.
  • Leading the implementation of medical-humanitarian activities.
  • Coordinating with other MSF sections.
  • Evaluating progress and outcomes of activities.
  • Planning and coordinating human, material and financial resources.
  • Leading the mission and its staff.
  • Managing, coaching and developing direct reports.
  • Implementing Human Resources policy.
  • Ensuring staff and management team are aware of mission strategies.
  • Ensuring the associative character of MSF is reflected in briefing.
  • Ensuring the internal and external flow of information.
  • Producing required planning and program performance reports.
  • Defining and ensuring the implementation of the security framework.
Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in management positions within humanitarian aid. Previous experience with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) or another humanitarian NGO is required. Previous working experience in developing countries is required.

Qualifications

University degree is required. A degree in Medicine, Public Health, Paramedical Studies or International Relations will be considered an asset. For OCBA positions, a degree in Project Management or Human Resources Management will be considered an asset.

Remuneration
Legal contract with full-time salary as head of mission (level 15 IRFFG) for 12 months. Position Level 15 at International Reference Field Function Grid and final salary determined by IRP2 MSF frame. Secondary benefits according to MSF-OCBA’s policies.
