Overview

Assist with the development and administration of Information Technology (IT) applications and systems for the Immigration, Visas and Readmission (IVR) Unit, in close coordination with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with internal and external coordination of IMCT activities for IVR global programmes.
  • Help analyze requirements and develop solutions for IVR client application and management systems.
  • Evaluate potential and historical applications failures, propose solutions, and develop improvement concepts.
  • Fulfill assigned tasks and collaborate with project implementation teams for development and delivery of new applications.
  • Design and development of front-end and back-end website applications and databases.
  • Ensuring cross-platform optimization and responsiveness of applications.
  • Provide timely and customer-oriented response and resolution to reported issues.
  • Ensure the security and maximum availability of solutions and data.
  • Perform recurring maintenance tasks and sustain upkeep of the Global IVR IMCT inventory.
  • Aid with continuous knowledge transfer to IOM IVR Global network colleagues and Local IT Support.
  • Keep abreast of technologies and contribute to continuous improvement measures.
  • Maintain good technical communications and relations with relevant IMCT teams and software vendors.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience

Two years of relevant professional experience (for Master’s degree holders) or four years of relevant professional experience (for University degree holders) in the Information Management and Software Development field. Wide-ranging and advanced knowledge on fundamental front-end languages (HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript), server-side languages (Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, .Net), programming frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, React JS, Vue JS, ASP.Net), database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL), web server platforms (IIS, Apache, Nginx), cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS), CMS platforms (Drupal), ECM platforms (Microsoft SharePoint), RDBMS and Data Warehousing concepts, data visualization (Power BI, Tableau), and information flow design. Experience in aiding projects and follow assignments and tasks through known project management frameworks and methodologies.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or University degree in the above fields. Valid and relevant certifications for IT development, web applications, and database management would be an advantage.

Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage. Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
