Overview

Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of staff development in language and communication training for all Secretariat staff.


Tasks Summary
  • Oversees and coordinates the team responsible for language and communication training delivery in the six official UN languages
  • Provides inputs to the programme budget for training and development, monitors funds, and prepares budgetary reports
  • Ensures programme objectives and assessments are harmonized with up-to-date materials and methodology
  • Oversees and monitors colleagues' work and provides input on performance management
  • Contributes to recruitment activities, including vacancy announcements, candidate evaluation, and interviews
  • Liaises with entities involved in multilingualism and language proficiency examinations
  • Advises managers and staff on human resources matters related to language and communications training
  • Assesses training needs and contributes to the design of training programmes
  • Assists in policy development through research, studies, and evaluations
  • Undertakes survey initiatives, designs data collection tools, and analyzes responses
  • Prepares written outputs such as background papers, reports, and studies
  • Prepares special reports and provides specialist input to human resources development projects
  • Maintains and contributes to external partnerships for staff development and learning opportunities
  • Stays updated on developments in staff development and language and communications learning

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, finance, budgeting, or administration is required
  • Experience in capacity development or training within an international organization is required
  • Experience in preparing and executing operational and programmatic budgets is required
  • Experience liaising with stakeholders and partners to advance initiatives and projects is desirable

Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent degree) in training and development, human resources management, business or public administration, or related area such as education, social sciences or applied linguistics
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
