Overview

Provide substantive, organizational, and logistic support to the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section. Focus on technical cooperation, normative and policy work, knowledge development, and partnerships.


Tasks Summary
  • Perform background research and analysis on human trafficking and migrant smuggling trends, legal frameworks, and concepts
  • Assist in planning, implementation, and monitoring of technical assistance projects
  • Support preparation of training materials
  • Collect and analyze case-law and manage information on UNODC platforms
  • Identify areas for knowledge development and research emerging issues
  • Assist in preparation and holding of intergovernmental meetings and other events
  • Contribute to drafting official UNODC submissions and guidance notes
  • Strengthen UNODC involvement in inter-agency fora
  • Liaise with UN offices, external organizations, and Member States
  • Prepare briefing notes, statements, presentations, and communication materials
  • Compile weekly press clippings
  • Carry out other tasks related to UNODC Global Action against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.

Experience Requirements

Qualification Requirements
  • Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR enrolled in or recently completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
  • Studies in criminology, law, political or social sciences, international relations, or a related field
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Good drafting ability
  • Computer skills, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Computer literate in standard software applications
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Six Months

Work Modality: In-person or remotely
