Tasks Summary
- Provides legal advice on interpretation and application of UN Staff Regulations and Rules and governing body resolutions
- Coordinates teams of legal officers on major legal projects
- Advises on and supervises litigation of staff grievances and dismissal recommendations
- Represents the Organization in internal administrative tribunals
- Guides and supervises legal officers
- Advises on complex substantive and procedural legal questions
- Organizes and supervises research studies and legal opinions
- Advises on and supervises drafting of agreements and legal documents
- Negotiates settlement of major claims
- Advises on interpretation of personnel policies and administrative tribunal judgments
- Coordinates review of revisions to staff regulations and rules
- Represents OLA in committees and working groups
- Contributes to review and design of legal instruments and policy
- Supervises and participates in preparing legal publications
Experience Requirements
- Extensive experience in the practice of international law, including administrative law of international organizations
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and draft legal texts clearly and precisely
