Overview
The Senior Officer, Security supports and advises the Head of Country Delegation in Syria on security matters to ensure an effective security framework and safe operating environment for IFRC personnel.
Tasks Summary
- Lead the implementation of IFRC Minimum Security Requirements (MSR).
- Develop and update security policies, contingency plans, and protocols.
- Conduct security assessments for operational sites.
- Monitor and analyze security and political developments.
- Build and maintain a security information network.
- Represent IFRC in security coordination platforms.
- Provide timely security reporting.
- Issue security alerts and advisories.
- Provide guidance during incidents.
- Ensure incident reporting.
- Conduct post-incident reviews.
- Review and approve Mission Orders.
- Coordinate and monitor field and cross-border movements.
- Ensure communication tools are available.
- Prepare and deliver security briefings.
- Provide security training sessions.
- Oversee physical security measures.
- Maintain coordination with the Regional Security Coordinator.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in related security work.
- Field experience in humanitarian work, preferably in the region.
- Preferred experience in proposal and report writing, representation and negotiation skills in working with different stakeholders, partner agencies (NGO) and coordinating activities in a challenging setup.
- Working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, law and standards.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Security Management or equivalent experience in a related field - required.
- Certified in basic life support, preferably on paramedic level - required.
