Overview

This internship is located in the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The intern will contribute to research and the organization of meetings and events on the topic of ageing and related human rights issues.

Tasks Summary
  • Assisting with preparations for the Fifth Appraisal of MIPAA including research, analysis and contributing to the drafting of the report.
  • Organizing and manage website files for the old Open-Ended Working Group webpage and contribute to transferring of files, migrating databases and uploading approved documents to new website.
  • Supporting the transfer of content from the former Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing website to the new Drupal-based website, including reviewing all files, updating links, and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of migrated content.
  • Check content, organize web pages, work with colleagues, and help keep the website accessible and up to date.
  • Assisting with preparation of materials to be posted on the website and social media platforms.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 2-6 months

Work Modality: UNHQ

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
