Overview

The Social Policy Officer (Local Governance and Decentralization) will support programme development, implementation, and monitoring within the Social Inclusion Programme, focusing on decentralization, governance, accountability, and social protection in a humanitarian-development context.

Tasks Summary

• Support the preparation, planning, execution, management, and implementation of technical and administrative programme tasks.
• Facilitate programme development, implementation, and progress monitoring, evaluating, and reporting.
• Provide support to the decentralization, governance and accountability streams of the Social Inclusion Programme.
• Provide support to the Social Protection and public finance streams of the Social Inclusion Programme.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required.
• Relevant experience in decentralization policies and decentralized planning in the context of Cameroon is required.
• Relevant experience in decentralized and participatory planning and budgeting is a strong asset.
• Relevant experience working with communities in community development programme is a strong asset.
• Background and/or familiarity with emergency is essential.
• Experience working in a developing country is considered as a strong asset.

Qualification Requirements

A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant technical field.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in French and good knowledge of English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
