Overview

The WASH Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process, preparing, managing, and implementing tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results.

Tasks Summary
  • Draft updates for WASH in the situation analysis.
  • Research and report on trends in WASH.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation.
  • Contribute to the development of WASH-related outcome and output results.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes.
  • Prepare required documentations/materials.
  • Work collaboratively to collect/analyze/share information on implementation issues.
  • Keep records of reports and assessments.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises.
  • Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
  • Prepare sectoral progress reports.
  • Undertake field visits and surveys.
  • Provide technical and operational support to counterparts and partners.
  • Draft requisitions for supplies, services, and agreements.
  • Study and understand UNICEF’s emergency response procedures.
  • Take up support roles in an emergency response and early recovery.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience with a Master’s degree, or a minimum of 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required. Experience in municipal water supply repair and reconstruction and/or wastewater treatment engineering is considered a strong asset. Work experience within the UN system should not exceed 1 year.

Qualification Requirements

Master's degree or equivalent in civil or water engineering, sanitary engineering, public health or another relevant technical field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses are a strong asset. In exceptional cases, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience can be considered.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
