Overview

The Protection Officer will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing the Country Office’s Protection Programme activities and strategies, advising on protection assistance portfolio development and engaging with stakeholders.

Tasks Summary
  • Oversee and manage Protection programming and provide technical support on Protection Mainstreaming.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Protection programming, including administrative, operational, and financial management.
  • Provide operational management, guidance, and supervision to staff, assisting on programmatic strategy and implementation.
  • Mentor and support staff, conduct relevant trainings, and ensure capacity building of Programme staff.
  • Establish, maintain, and expand relationships with UN Agencies, humanitarian organizations, government, and community interlocutors.
  • Identify priorities, develop new projects and activities, aligning them with focus areas and emerging trends.
  • Ensure programmatic directions are shared with international stakeholders to maximize impact and stimulate fund mobilization.
  • Ensure timely and quality preparation and submission of Programme reports.
  • Monitor progress against strategic objectives and programme benchmarks, providing advice for improvements.
  • Oversee the establishment of a common Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework.
  • Oversee the production of visibility/communications materials.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data collection and analysis mechanisms.
  • Undertake regular visits to Sub-Offices to oversee, coordinate, and support Protection programme implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree with five years of relevant professional experience, or University degree with seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in programme development and capacity-building activities.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with national and international institutions.
  • Experience in organizing consultations, workshops and seminars with high level stakeholders.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business or Public Administration, International Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in the above fields.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and French (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) and/or Haitian Creole is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Special Short Term Graded (Up to 9 months) Initial Contract Duration: 6 months
