Overview
Provide direct assistance to school principals, school support teams, and teachers in assessing, screening, and identifying students with various difficulties. Facilitate referral processes and contribute to the implementation of inclusive education policies.
Tasks Summary
- Provide direct assistance in assessing, screening, and identifying students with difficulties.
- Guide the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and educational accommodations.
- Facilitate and support the referral process for students identified with additional needs.
- Contribute to the implementation of UNRWA's Inclusive Education Policy, Strategy, and Toolkit.
- Participate in training to enhance the ability to design and develop individualized response plans for SEN students.
- Collaborate to develop a Planning Matrix responding to recommendations on disability and inclusive education.
- Contribute to the finalization of materials for "Disability & Inclusive Education" awareness sessions.
- Support the delivery of training sessions for the education Support Cadre.
- Provide direct learning support to students, particularly in catch-up learning.
- Design & develop the next school year plan based on needs & available resources.
- Prepare a plan for monthly visits in all schools in their assigned area.
- Support in the assessment of teachers' needs regarding SEN children.
- Assist teachers to plan, differentiate, enrich, adapt and use a wide range of classroom material.
- Coordinate with school counsellors, Education specialists and health tutors.
- Support the preparation of individual education plans (IEP).
- Coordinate with kindergartens for the early detection of SEN students.
- Coordinate with social workers to raise awareness and follow up cases.
- Support coordination with NGOs and specialists for diagnostic and therapeutic consultations.
- Disseminate good practice in SEN across schools.
- Collect information on SEN students monthly on the database.
- Support in tracking cases and prepare reports on SEN children's progress.
- Carry other duties when deemed necessary by the Education Programme.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education mainstreaming, psychosocial/counselling experience in educational context, and preferably at school level.
Qualification Requirements
A university degree from a college or university recognized by UNRWA in special education or any school related subject plus a higher Diploma in special education or in Educational Psychology plus higher Diploma in special education.
