Overview
Implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities, provides direct support to affected individuals, and trains/supervises others in MHPSS.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and follows up on MHPSS activities aligned with ICRC guidelines.
- Trains and supervises Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) staff/volunteers and other organizations/partners.
- Organizes referrals of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up.
- Sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures data collection.
- Develops and maintains contacts with NRCS, health authorities, and technical teams from other organizations.
- Identifies key community actors and/or health staff for MHPSS trainings.
- Ensures regular links with key actors and health facilities for beneficiary identification and referral pathways.
- Participates in weekly supervision with the MHPSS TL and in peer supervision.
- Provides and/or facilitates supportive and constructive coaching and supervision to NRCS and community psychosocial support volunteers.
Required Experience
- 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in MHPSS programs.
- Experience in conducting training and supervision.
- Clinical, psychosocial, and community-based experience.
- Red Cross/Red Crescent experience is an asset.
- Humanitarian experience is an asset.
Qualifications
- University degree in clinical psychology or psychiatric nurse.
- License to practice in his/her own country.
