Overview

Support research and analytical work related to AfCFTA digital trade in North Africa.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct background research on AfCFTA and the Digital Trade Protocol.
  • Compile and synthesize information on protocol adoption, ratification, and implementation in North African countries.
  • Collect and analyze data related to the digital economy in North Africa.
  • Review national strategies and policy documents related to digital trade.
  • Support drafting sections of a research paper.
  • Assist in identifying policy gaps, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the formulation of preliminary policy recommendations.
  • Compile datasets, policy information, and indicators.
  • Prepare analytical summaries, tables, graphs, and briefing notes.
  • Assist in reviewing literature, reports, and publications.
  • Participate in internal meetings, workshops, webinars, and consultations.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, briefing notes, or summaries.
  • Perform other research-related tasks.
Required Experience

Internships do not require work experience

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Economics, international trade or related area, or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) in Economics, international trade or related area

Languages Required
Fluency in French and/or English is required
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Arabic is desirable
Contract Duration
3 Months
Work Modality
in person, at the ECA Office for North Africa in Rabat, Morocco, but can be remote or partly remote based on the approval of the supervisor
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
