Provide technical expertise on ship systems and equipment and the implementation of the Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) methodology. Act as Secretary for the Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE) and implement the FSA programme.
Minimum seven years’ work experience in at least one of the following fields is essential: naval architecture; marine engineering; shipboard fire safety; shipboard life-saving appliances; which may include approval of ships’ Fire Control and/or Safety Equipment Plans, ship surveying or equivalent engineering experience. Experience in project management or/and the delivery of capacity-building programmes/activities is essential. Experience of participation in international technical meetings and ship survey experience based on IMO regulations and classification society rules; IT skills (databases, website data, etc.); and management skills are advantageous.
Advanced university degree* in one of the following fields is essential: naval architecture, marine engineering or similar technical subjects. *A first-level university degree with four additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
