Overview

The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the Finance Operations Unit, ensuring effective implementation of service standards, financial business processes, and internal controls for various financial functions. The role involves leading a team to deliver professional and timely processes, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, and monitoring service standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Establishing and monitoring service standards for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash & Treasury Management, Implementing Partner, and UNDP Service Clearing Account functions.
  • Managing team workload and priorities to ensure effective delivery.
  • Ensuring work is consistent with established business processes, internal controls, and financial regulations.
  • Reviewing and recommending changes to business processes for improved efficiency and performance.
  • Addressing escalated exceptional or challenging issues.
  • Ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end controls and reconciliations.
  • Using data analysis to report on metrics, trends, and identify issues or risks.
  • Implementing cash and treasury management policies and procedures.
  • Reporting on matters requiring escalation or resolution to the Head, Finance & Budget Services.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the financial sector. Experience managing a team within a finance environment is essential. Experience within the UN system or other international system would be an advantage.

Qualifications

University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Studies or similar subjects is essential. An accounting or financial qualification from a highly-recognized professional accounting institute or appropriate international equivalent is essential.

A high level of proficiency in English, both written and oral, is essential.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of one or more of the official languages of the Organization will be an advantage.
Contract Duration
Fixed-term for two years (first year is probationary) with the possibility of further extension subject to satisfactory performance

Remuneration
US$ 71,335 net per annum, plus post adjustment (currently US$ 56,354). Salary is free of income tax in the United Kingdom.
