Overview

The Protection Caseworker AVR+MHPSS will conduct individual protection assessments for migrants, provide case management services, and support the implementation of post-arrival assistance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual protection assessments for migrants upon arrival.
  • Detect vulnerability situations and protection risks, including survivors of gender-based violence and trafficking, children at risk, individuals with serious health conditions, and those needing psychosocial support.
  • Document needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Provide case management services and follow-up on cases.
  • Ensure the delivery of post-arrival services and assisted voluntary return.
  • Monitor progress and coordinate referrals to specialized services.
  • Support the implementation of safe and dignified post-arrival assistance.
  • Collaborate with relevant authorities.
  • Explain available assistance and ensure clear, culturally appropriate, and age-appropriate messaging.
  • Maintain accurate case records in IOM's case management systems.
  • Coordinate with the Protection Coordinator and other operational staff.
  • Participate in protection coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with partners to strengthen referral networks and services.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and contribute to protection assessments.
  • Undertake work travel as required.
  • Perform other protection-related tasks as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Licenciatura in Social Work, Psychology, Human Ecology, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related fields with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master's degree in related fields with 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in protection case management, including care for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and trafficking, and at-risk children and adolescents.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals, ideally including returnees or migrants with complex needs.
  • Experience in referrals and coordination with local protection actors, NGOs, or government services.
  • Experience in programs including a movement operations component is valued.
  • Previous experience in UN agencies is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Licenciatura in Social Work, Psychology, Human Ecology, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related fields.
  • Maestría in related fields.
  • Additional training in case management, protection, migration, AVRR, M&E, PSEAH, VBG will be considered an advantage.

Languages Required
All staff must be fluent in one of the official IOM languages: English, French, or Spanish. Fluency in Spanish is required for this position.
Languages Preferred
Fluency in English is desirable.
