Overview

The intern will provide support in one or more of UNRCPD's key programmatic areas, including strategic communications and public outreach activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Office with strategic communications and public outreach activities.
  • Assist in preparing media and communication products for the Office's website and social media platforms.
  • Assist in drafting and editing publications, including fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and donor updates.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, outreach materials and visual content to support programme activities.
  • Conduct background research and compile information related to disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation issues.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, seminars and training activities, including providing logistical and administrative support as required.
  • Assist in preparing meeting notes, briefing materials and other supporting documentation.
  • Contribute ideas to support communication, outreach and design initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

a) be enrolled in, or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b) be enrolled in, or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent). A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Remuneration
This internship is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
