Overview

Internship supporting the Aquatic Species Team of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat, focusing on coordination of agreements and implementation of decisions related to aquatic species.


Tasks Summary
  • Assist with implementation of COP15 Decisions
  • Undertake literature reviews on marine mammals, sharks, rays, or turtles
  • Compile information on national, regional, and international legal status of marine species
  • Undertake data analyses and visualization
  • Contribute to preparation of background documents for meetings
  • Assist in preparation of publications, presentations, and outreach material
  • Contribute to development of strategies and action plans
  • Assist in preparation and follow-up of meetings and workshops
  • Assist with development of project proposals for fundraising
  • Assist with implementation of projects
  • Assist with substantial preparations for meetings of the Sharks MOU
  • Assist with development of capacity-building materials
  • Participate at appropriate meetings of CMS and ASCOBANS Secretariats
  • Assist with implementation of other aspects of Secretariats’ work programmes

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.


Qualification Requirements
  • Currently in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D. program (or equivalent)
  • Completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree within one year prior to the expected start date
  • Computer literate in standard software applications
Other Details

Languages Preferred: Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable• Ability to design and analyse surveys and polls is desirable

Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Work Modality: Bonn, Germany• remote internship, if needed

Remuneration: UNPAID
