Overview

Manages the provision and coordination of logistics services in support of mission operations and clients, including supply chain, materials, transportation, maintenance, contracts, communications, IT, engineering, and medical services.

Tasks Summary
  • Prepares drafts of complex logistics plans and contingency plans for mission drawdown and liquidation.
  • Develops mission-specific Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepares drafts of budget requirements for missions.
  • Manages logistics operations, including assets, materials, contracts, and personnel.
  • Ensures timely, accountable, and cost-effective delivery of cargo and personnel.
  • Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing field mission operations.
  • Ensures logistics requirements consider gender-specific needs.
  • Participates in technical surveys and verification missions.
  • Identifies unit requirements and shortfalls and manages special logistics operations.
  • Maintains records of logistic activities and essential supplies.
  • Coordinates logistics activities with procurement, finance, human resources, and other sections.
  • Follows up on legal and financial aspects of logistic support.
  • Ensures functioning accounting, reporting, and internal control systems.
  • Coordinates logistics operations with other UN agencies and organizations.
  • Ensures supervised staff are trained and cross-trained, identifying additional training needs.
  • Guides and supervises new/junior staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in practical field logistics operations is required. The minimum years of relevant work experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree.
  • Experience in managing warehouses and inventories with wide range of commodities and high annual turnover in the last 5 years is desirable.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in data analysis with SAP/ERP, Excel and Power BI is desirable.
  • Experience in working with warehouses in UN or other similar international organization in a conflict or post-conflict environment is desirable.
  • At least two years of experience in Inventory Management processes is desirable.
Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Languages Required: English is required.

Languages Preferred: French is desirable.
